Our older kitten loves to suckle on our youngest kittens ears. Kneading and everything. What's weird is that the youngest kitten seems to enjoy it and often SHE will seek HIM out and nuzzle up to him for him to suckle her ears. Even today when he stopped, she meowed at him for him to continue...

I guess my question is, should I try to stop them? I just don't want him to hurt her ears. I'm guessing if it hurts, she will stop him right... ?

They are both purring while this happens.. so they do seem happy.

He shouldn't hurt her, she'd cry and try to get away from it if that happened. Mutual grooming is comforting to cats, and you're lucky to have cats that like each other enough for that. Hopefully this bond stays that close when they get older.

So suckling is a way to groom each other? I really didn't know that! I thought he was just like trying to nurse on her ears. Weird, I know. I'm glad to know I don't have to break them up because I feel mean doing that.

Thanks!

At this age it would be attempting to nurse, or just seek comfort. It will likely eventually turn into grooming. The way I figure it, they get along and no one is getting hurt so there's nothing to worry about.
