New roof is going on house and I have three ferals that are adjusting indoors. The noise will be awful for two to three days. I'm worried what this will do to my gang. I thought about playing music just a wee bit louder than I normally would. Any suggestions? I hate to set them back with the noise.
Many Thanks.

There's no place like home
I've turned up the stereo in the past to mask noises like these, and it will help to some degree. But they are going to feel the vibrations and watch them climb up and down the ladders. Do you have a basement that you can put them in for a while to keep them further from the noise? Keep them as close to their routine as you can. Give them the things that comfort them, and if they aren't tame enough to turn to you for support, just let them be. They'll be happy when it's all over.

When the people were working on my roof, I didn't even see my ferals for the duration. Since I don't normally play music, playing loud music would have been just as weird for them, so I just let them hide...they also are not very happy when the men are doing yardwork - mowing, leaf-blowing...whenever I do see them during these noisy episodes, I talk to them and also I believe they cue off me not acting freaked out or differently when things like that happen. They get over it pretty quickly once the noise stops.

Thank you both for the great suggestions. They are accustomed to TV being on the news networks and I will keep things routine. They are still very new to indoors. Two still hide most of time and third will stay with me up to a foot or two in the room. I was concerned about setting them back some. Wish us all luck!
