Hello Everyone,
I am Mary from MA, mama to two indoor cats; Bill (18) and Booey (5). I also am mama to one outdoor feral cat we affectionately call, OMG short for Old Man Grey. We have been very worried about OMG for the past week because he appears to have some sort of infection and has swelling in his face. He never gets close enough for a good inspection and although the swelling has been down for a couple days I feel he is not out of the woods. Bill is an insulin dependent diabetic and was diagnosed 4 years ago. He is my best friend (after my husband) and just the best cat in our world. Booey was a stray who we brought in last October and she is finally able to stay in the same room as Bill. She is pretty sure that Bill is going to kill her.

I came across this site while I was searching for no stick kitty litter spray. Now I am so happy I had sticky litter!
This seems like a great site. Mary GW

Welcome, Mary! OMG - Oh, my gosh, Old Man Gray! I used to live in No. Reading, MA. Now live in No. CA. Winters are better here.

What a nice welcome from everyone. Thanks very much. I chuckled when I read the comment about Bill being just a bit ticked about being my best friend "after my husband." If I thought for a second that Bill might read this...haaaa!!! OMG was here this morning and I see that he has blood on his neck so he must be scratching at it. Thanks for all the good wishes for him. Mary GW

Welcome Mary!

I am Maryann from Mass, and I'm a newbie here, too.

I hope OMG is all right. Maybe your animal control has a trap they can lend you to get him in for a vet check?

Welcome from another MA resident. Have you tried to trap OMG to bring him to a vet? Especially with it getting colder now, if he is ill he may not make this winter. Try contacting http://www.secondchancefund.org/ and they will be able to help you or give you advice on where to borrow a live trap.

I just wanted to update you about OMG and thank you all for your welcome. I lost this link and have been trying to think of the name of the site for a few weeks now. Now that I have found it I am bookmarking it! OY! Anyway, GREAT news...
OMG is doing much better. He lanced his own abcess and it seems to have healed nicely. He has put back on some weight and appears to be doing really well. It must have been all of the prayers and positive thoughts from all of you kitty lovers and all of those furbabies. He was here this morning for a big plate of food and is sitting out in the sun right now. Another very positive thing is that he has been sitting in the box I made for him out of a toybox so when it rains he is inside there. I am thrilled that he is comfortable using it. Thank you everyone! Mary, Bill, Booey and of course, OMG!
