Thought this was written by sharky, thanks a lot for looking into things mschauer. I'm hoping if I add the enzymes to the probiotics I'll be able to feed other foods, we'll see

Since you already have the HS I hope you give it a try. I'd be curious if it works for you like it has for others.

Regardless, I hope you find a solution soon!

I think in a week or two I'm going to add some digestive enzymes to their food and see how they react. If everything is well I'll give them some Evo or California Natural canned. If they have diarrhea I'll go back to Countrypet for a while. Then in a week or two I'll try probios with the digestive enzymes, and if that doesn't work I'll try the HS. And finally if nothing works I'll jump off a bridge.

I'm glad you feel you have several avenues to explore before resorting to jumping off a bridge.

Keep us updated on your results, both what works and what doesn't work. I know lots of folks are interested in this topic.

Other parasites like giardia and trichomonas CAN be seen on a lower power but its really really hard. We find them on "directs" that we look at under the 40X power. Basically, take a VERY small amount of feces and dab it on a slide with a drop of saline (or water should work) so you get just the thinnest amount on there that you can still see through clearly. You'll be able to see them swimming. I personally STILL can't see the difference between the two. They're wiggly little suckers!

There's a video here:

I know this thread is kind of old but I'm now going through this with my bengals.

I noticed you said you found mucus and blood in their stool at one point? This is indicative of Tritrichomonas foetus, which is something I'm having my cats tested for right now (by the vet) due to diarrhea.

I'm just wondering what became of this and whether or not your babies tested positive for any of these and what kind of treatment they received?

update?

I'm so glad to hear that you've taken your problem to a vet. IMO, diarrhea should not have gone on so long in River's case and the cats must have been dehydrated to a degree. I hope your vet finds the problem with your cat and gets it sorted quickly.
