Gunshots in the night

WHY must people shoot their guns, whether they be real or not, at night? I was in the kitchen making iced tea a couple minutes ago and heard a gunshot. It came from the direction of a park/school yard which is down the street from my house. Now I'm too scared to walk near any windows

could have been fireworks?, car doing the old back fire thing.
seen alot of people confuse those with gun shots.

Well it didnt have the hiss/pop/crackle of a firework but it could be the car thing. Either way people should be quiet at night and hoodlums should be in for the night. I need my beauty rest Jeez I sound like I'm 80.

if it was far enough way, all you wold hear is sharp crack,
just saying it could be, but stay away from the windows anyway

I hear shotgun shots at night here, and it is so close, I grab the phone and call my dad and ask "did you kill it?" he'll say "yes, that d--- possuem" but
I have been standing on my deck before and shots are heard and so was that sound you hear whenever bullets are flying by ya! Hoodlums on another rode! You talk about hit the deck, crawl inside and call the Sheriff!
Too scary for me!!!

Gosh I hope that's all it was! People people people. It could be just a Halloween prank.

Some people are idiots. They could accidently hurt someone. I would be scared too.
