My 3 furbabies are 13 weeks and they do have their kitty play time that gets a bit agressive. No blood drawn but one will cry when another is being too rough during the rumble.

I read to be like a mamma cat and asses the play and then when one cries to come and seperate.

But then I also read that that is not a good thing to do, to break them up, as they may end up biting and being agressive towards me.

So what should I do to help or not help during the kitty rumbles?

Will I be the Alpha cat or will Coconut, Cumulous, or Pumpkin eventually rule that out without me?

Thinking back over the four I had and how they battled at that age (3 males, 1 female, all neutered though) - sometimes it sounded like murder was being committed. I didn't interfere unless someone was obviously getting carried away - then I'd just make a loud noise (clap, for example) and say,"Hey! No killing!" which usually distracted them. Otherwise, I let them settle it among themselves, and nobody seems to have come out the worse for it (at least, no permanent scars)!

One more thing - Myrtle their Mom was also present, and she NEVER stepped in.

Another kitten can make the perfect target, or rather partner, for aggressive play. Protected by their furry coat, kittens seem to know their own boundaries and thresholds and there is usually no need to intervene in their aggressive play.

I just found this article here..so I guess I am reading the wrong stuff...LOL

I am probably worrying to much about it too....mamma for ya...

Kittens teach each other so many things during these "wrestling" matches. How much is too much with claws, what is a hard bite. I wouldnt interfere.

I have a Mom cat and her kittens until this day and she never ever interfered with any of their play fighting.
