Can I please have some advice? Yesterday DH and I went by car to a breeders home two hours away. The night before she kept us all awake with her calling. The breeder just called to me know that she has gone out of heat.

I have two options:

1. The breeder has kindly offered to keep her until she goes back into heat ( with Hopey that's two weeks).

2. Bring her home and take her back to the stud in two weeks time.

Can I please have some advice?

I'd leave her there, that way she can adjust and get used to the place. I know of breeders who've brought them home again, they come on call almost immediately then go off again at the stud.

Oh no, how frustrating! Now I have no personal experience of breeding so don't take this as sound advice, but I would think that a potential cat mum may well go out of heat if she's not sure whether it's safe to have a litter right now - and a sudden change of surroundings may well cause her body to say 'not right now', especially as it's her first time at stud.

Fingers crossed for you that she goes back into heat soon!

I'd keep her there. Lots of times that happens to queens. They are in full heat but new surroundings and go out of heat. Getting more comfortable with things and the stud would be better. So I would let her stay. She could come back into heat quicker by leaving her there then bringing her home again. Especially if this is a 1st time breeding.

I know some of my queens were at the breeders house for 2-3 weeks.

Thanks guys spoke to my mentor and she agrees. She also says that she may also go back into heat in the next few days.

I'm going to call the breeder and check up. I will ask him to keep her there until she gets in the mood again.

I don't know much about breeding but I do know that this is a common scenario. I'd leave her there too. If you bring her home and then take her back when she's in heat again, the same thing may happen.

He is blue carrying chocolate. Many colour possibilities!

Yeah she will stay there until she goes back into heat. One worry is that another breeder may want her cat bred before she starts calling again.

I know nothing about breeding, but knowing cats, it seems that keeping her there will be best for her keeping on top, physically .

Yeah I know she is staying.

We all really miss her and Mica is constantly looking for her everywhere. It will be great to have her back

I just heard from the breeder. Hopey has eaten and used her litterbox but no heat yet. It would seem like Hopey is a lady and would like to get to know Solly a little better first. They do seem to be getting along.

TBH I was worried that she would stop eating and get ill but to hearing this I feel so relieved.

If Solly and Hopey are housed in the same room, then Solly will bring her into heat again in a day or two. The couple of times that I have had queens in for Tonka to stud, they would take a few days to acclimate to the new environment, then be ready and willing to go into Tonka's enclosure for service. Of course, Tonka sang to them all night and day, sprayed his own particular brand of Brut cologne all over his enclosure and made nice-nice for them ... and as soon as they came back into cycle, in they went with him, whereupon he pounced on the poor unsuspecting little things and had his way with them ... he is such a lover-boy, really knows how to woo a girl. *wink*
