Hi everyone,

Oscar and Smudge will be 6 months old very soon. I understand that this is a fairly important time in their lives so I have a couple of questions.

First of all, food. We've been feeding them pouches (100g per pouch) at the rate of about 3-4 a day, each. They get 2 in the morning and 1-2 in the evening, with a complete dry food and water out during the day while we're at work. Does the amount of wet food need to be lowered now that they're getting older? If so, how much would it be best to lower it to?

Second thing is teeth! I've found 3 small kitten teeth around the house in the past 2 days, 1 of them had a little bit of blood with it. Am I right in thinking that they're just teething and getting their adult teeth? (Although I think it's just one of them at the moment) Is there anything I can do to help them through this? As I'm sure it's not very comfortable for them!

Thanks in advance for your help.

From what I've always understood feeding is based on weight. I do keep the dry down all day and feed restricted wet portions twice a day.

My kitten is also 6 months old and I still feed her a mixed diet of kitten and adult chow (only because I can't get her to stop eating the adult food!)

As far as the teething is concerned. Just be sure to offer lots of chew toys for them. (toy mice and the like with suffice)

Unless your kitties are getting to be overweight, I'm one of those folks that believe they should have as much as they want to eat in the first year while they grow.

As for teething, it's great that you found some teeth - most folks never do since the kitties seem to swallow them.

We got a bunch of the big fat straws for our kitties for teething and they loved them. They were cheap to replace too.
