I was letting Beatrix in tonight and Berach made a move like he was gonna jump down from his post and bug her like he always does...

I looked at him and said, "Berach, please don't. Leave Bea alone.".

he sits right back down, leans back a little and WINKS at me...
I just HAD to laugh because I know he only does it to mess with Bea.
He's so mischevious...

Of course they understand us. They just choose to ignore us most of the time.

Oh heck yes they do!!!!!!!!!! Those brats just choose when to respond to us. Enzo knows everything I want from him, although he doesn't always listen! I will tell him NO! and he will sheepishly look away and then NOOOO! and then he gives up. He keeps trying to eat my plant right now and I say "Don't you dare!" and then he'll walk away..... what a brat!

My cats know a variety of phrases, mostly ones that involve producing a lap...

"Time to play the Final Fantasy!" (computer lap)
"Let's watch TV!" (television lap)
"Let's go take a nap!" (sleeping lap)

Etc.

If I say any of the above things, the cats are in place before I am most of the time. Of course, lap-sitting is kind of competitive here with seven cats and only one lap. =P
