Hi
I've noticed in the past week or two that chester has been shaking his head occasionally during the evening. It's not all the time, nor every day, but it's more often than usual. I checked his ears, and they are perfectly clean, then I thought maybe his collar was bugging him and changed that....He's showing NO signs of illness....eating, sleeping, playing, purring and begging just as normal. Eyes and nose are clear and no sneezing.
Any thoughts on what it could be, or do we all agree that I'm maybe watching him too closely?

he could have earmites or an infection waaaay down in his ears. You can take him to the vet so they can look way down in the ear for them, or wait a little longer and see what happens.

All I can think of is ear mites. And have you checked for any flea problems?

I think ear infection. If you can't see anything, it could easily be an ear infection. If let go, they can render a cat deaf & upset their balance.

If you can't see anything, have a sniff to see if it smells unpleasant. That can be ear mites/infection.

Will do once I get home! I know his butt smells, but that's a whole different problem all together.
Infection isn't something i had thought of....strangely enough. Most probable though, since he's indoor only, so mites aren't very likely.

BTW, cats can still pick up earmites, even if they don't go outside. My furbabies are all indoor cats, but still pick up earmites occasionally - probably from the stray cats that we feed outside..
