My new kitty, Prince does that to Sassy all the time. She let's him know when she's tired of the kitty play!!

My new kitten does this to our 1.5-year old ALL the time. Our oldest handles the kittly play very well, and gets up and walks away once she's had enough. But sometimes she'll turn her head around and watch the kitten swipe at her tail as it moves--- sometimes I think she's "daring" her to play!

Our 2 kittens are always playing with our male cat Snowballs tail, he just gets up & leaves. When they go after the other cats tails, the cats just tap the kittens on the head to let them know to leave their tails alone...they usually work it out amongst themselves.

If it upsets your older cat too much, give your kitten a toy to change her thought of wanting to get your cats tail to playing with a toy instead. Have you ever tried one of those catnip mouses? They are around $4 & our kittens keep real busy with those. http://www.worldwise.com/catniptoys.html

I've always seen as a little kid annoying an older brother or sister for attention, not necessarily needing a toy instead. The fascination with tails tends to wear off after when kittens get older.
