I know many of you here are probably sending good thoughts, prayers, or even donations to all the pets and their humans effected by the Southern California fires. It's really a scary thing to think about.
I've read several places that the evacuation process with pets has been made easier by people planning ahead, and it got me thinking. I do NOT have a proper plan in place to deal with any disaster, and I need to make one to ensure my pets are safe and accounted for, and all their supplies/information is ready to grab.
I wanted to share with everyone how the California Veterinary Medical Association suggests you prepare households with cats and dogs for disasters and emergencies. I hope this information can help someone in the future.
California Veterinary Medical Association Disaster Preparedness tips are here: http://www.catwellness.org/cvma_caringforpets.asp
If you think there are other good ways to be prepared, or if you know of any organizations that could use money/supplies donated, please share!
