Interesting Phrases

I collect interesting phrases from all of the different media that I read. My work area and my locker are covered with Post-its with the different phrases written on them.

There are some other ones that I will have to write tomorrow because I cannot remember them exactly. Does anyone else have favorite phrases?

A lot of these are philosophical, which is lovely. But your examples are really just delicious turns of phrase -- so here's one I've always loved:

At the end of Martin Cruz Smith's "Gorky Park," as Arkady releases the much-disputed sables from their cages and they streak away across the snow, the last phrase of the book is, "Black on white, black on white, black on white, and then gone."

I had a fortune cookie that said

That was the motto of a group of O5Hers (morse code copiers) I was stationed with in Augsburg. Most of you probably won't be able to appreciate the humor.

I susscribe to some type of website that I get daily quotes.
