Pleased to meet you

I'm posting to you from Wellington in New Zealand. My partner and I moved here two yrs ago from London and recently adopted a 2yr old ginger white tom from our local rescue and named him Figo. He's a crazy boy who likes to play with everything, sits on my shoulders while doing the dishes and sometimes sleeps with an open mouth and/or a protruding pink tongue.
I have owned cats before at home with my parents and still have a family cat who is 22 yrs old! She's called Sophie and very much loved (but is so far away in London).
I hope to get to know you all.
Thank you

Welcome to TCS, Kiwi! - I'm relatively new here myself & can say you'll find lots of friendly & helpful people here, who will no doubt demand pictures of Figo ASAP! That's very cute about him sitting on your shoulder - now if only he'd DO the dishes...but I guess he's helping as much as he can! You & your partner are great 's for adopting!

My last cat (!) was a kitten of a stray Momma - we took in Mommacat (who was probably about one year old) and kept one of her kittens, Rosie. Mommacat lived with us for 19 years before quietly passing. Rosiecat lived to be 26 - at the end, she had no teeth left, but still enjoyed her chicken-liver-and-rice mush. Sophie sounds like another sweetheart kitty & I can see why you miss her, you've probably known her all your life!

Thanks for the reply. I feel at home already!
Sophie was a daugher from a previous cat, called Pretty, and she was born at home. Unfortunately mother and daughter never got on and she sadly passed away at the age of 18yrs to cancer.
PS. I agree must train Figo to do the dishes or at least start the dishwasher!

Welcome to the board! There's a couple of other Kiwis here as well, I think one of them may also be from Wellington actually...

I hope you have a long, happy life with Figo and he learns how to do the dishes very soon
