I have a question well kind of 3.
What are the absolute neccesitys for a cat ready(due about Nov.4)to have kittens and for after?
What are the things good to have but not needed?
What are some extra things just to have for fun or whatever?

You should have a quiet room or a large cage/crate to confine the mother in with a nesting box.

I like to use 2 pillowcases. One has newspaper in it and is used for giving birth. After the kittens are born, switch to the other pillowcase that has a towel or two inside. The pillowcases will prevent the little nails from getting caught.

You should have scissors, dental floss, washcloth in case you need to help mom with cutting cords or wiping the kittens off. Also a pen/paper to record when the kittens are born and color/sex (if you can tell). Its important to try to be there to count afterbirths (1 per kitten) as a retained one inside mom will cause infection.

Get a book out of the library on cat care (with birthing) or go on the net and print out some basic guidelines to have handy.

Consult your vet about vaccinations, worming & other health issues. Also, she needs a good quality kitten food to prepare her for making lots of good rich colostrum & then milk. Cameras are fun to have available, to see how big she gets right before and then after the kits arrive - and definitely FUN is posting the pics on TCS
so we can ALL share in the exciting event
