Jainy has a new habit of hiding under furniature and jumping or running out when someone walks by. This isn't that bad, the problem is that I end up kicking her or hitting her with my leg. I feel really bad about this even though Jainy is always fine and I know it is accidental, but is there anything I can do to make her stop this before she gets hurt?

I am going on the assumption that this is based in play...?

This is most likely a self-correcting behavior. If she gets whacked with a leg enough times, she'll stop (unless this behavior is that fun for her). I don't get the impression you're doing it on purpose. You could always try to scare her with a squirt bottle or a bunch of yelling and carrying on, but it honestly sounds like she's just playing and will figure out if it's a bit too much to handle. I doubt she's going to get hurt unless you walk significantly differently than the rest of the human population - if you generally walk around kicking everything it might be a problem, but getting shoved a bit isn't going to kill her.

Our little one had a habit of that too
it was so sad because he give you the most pathetic face you have ever seen. Which of course makes you feel twice as bad. He stopped doing it though. I think the other poster is right about it being a self correcting lesson. Good luck! Don't feel too bad!
