I just wanted to let everyone know that my 6 month old Ragdoll Pasha had to be put to sleep today. We thought he had pneumonia but it turned out that he had feline infectious peritonitis and had fluid around his lungs. The vet said he needed to be put down. I am devasted. I had him for only a few months. He was nuetered a few weeks ago. I will miss him more than anything. I purchased him right after the sudden passing of my father. He was a bright spot in a difficult time. It will be a while before I can afford to purcase another Ragdoll but that is the breed that I am now in love with as Pasha was the best. Thanks to all who had answered the few questions I got to post. I let the breeder know but as his death is not a gentic defect I doubt they will be willing to replace or discount another kitten. The vet told me that I did all that I could for him and that because I have no other cats he more than likely had it before I purchase him.
The ironic thing is I just mailed his registration papers today and recieve the fruminator I purchased for his hair in the mail. Sorry for such a long post. I am still in shock.

I am so sorry - I had hoped he would pull through from whatever he had. He was beautiful, and he helped you through a bad time, so hang onto the good memories. In time it will get better.

I am so very sorry to hear this, I hate hearing about this illness, it is such an unfair one. RIP little one, you got some good times though.

Oh no! I am so sorry. This touched my heart because he looks so much like my Kahu.

I'm so sorry about Pasha. If he had the disease before you purchased him, then the breeder may give you another. It sounds like he was sick when you got him.

I'm so sorry for your lost. I just went through this with my kitty, Willow. She was almost 9 years old. When I saw your post on pneumonia, I thought of her and her experience with FIP, but I really didn't want it to be the case for your kitty. I do hope your breeder offers you a "replacement" kitten or at least a discount when you are ready to accept a new kitty into your life. No cat will replace your lost Pasha, but when you are ready to open your heart again, a new kitty can bring new joy and healing.

I am SO VERY sorry to hear this!!

I understand completely about being in shock. FIP is just horrible. I really didn't expect this just from reading your posts about him not feeling well. Man, I am just so sorry.

I hope your breeder will do something for you if that's what you want.

He was beautiful.

R.I.P Pasha.

Oh I am so sorry to hear that! Pasha was just beautiful, and I am so sorry, as I have been there as well. Our first Smudge passed at about 5 months due to FIP, and it was just a nightmare. Please PM if you want to talk or anything.
