How do I get an avatar?

Hello, I am new here.

How do I get an avatar? Is there a "bank" of available avatars or do I have to upload my own?

Either way, how do I do that? I've looked around in my Control Panel and dont' see any options anywhere for avatars. Do I need to have more posts to do this?

You've been around a few days and have enough posts for the "kitten" avatars. In your User CP, on the left hand side under Settings & Options, click on "Edit Avatar". You have five to select from, and as you move up the User Groups, more will become available. It will be some time before you qualify for a Custom Avatar. That comes with Super Cat status:

To get full Super Cat status you must have 700 posts and 120 days in membership
Then you get:
40 stored PMs
39 additional avatars to choose from
Ability to upload custom avatar
80 Kb in uploaded attachments
Posting access to IMO, if over 18

Last time I was in the CP, that Avatar option wasn't there.

Is there a posting about the different "status" levels and what they each mean?

Do I also need a certain status to have a signature?

You should see it now as you have reached full kitten status.

To Get full Kitten status you must have 5 posts and 1 day in membership
Then you get:

• 10 stored PMs
• 5 avatars to choose from
• ability to use signatures

Check to see if you can access it and let us know.
