wont matter, it going to be the new style of money in N.america from something i been reading, its going to be in 2010. Well at least there will no money exchange when visiting canada or mexico

That will be nice. In Michigan we never squawked if a Can quarter was given at the store. Out here they do. Border states will definitely appreciate the money change.

According to Snopes.com and Truthorfiction.com, the "Amero" is a fantasy coin, sort of like that "collectible" stuff from the Franklin mint, and several radio talk show hosts have gotten hold of a few of them and are making up all sorts of grand tales about them.

One of them even stated that the website that sells the coins (operating since the fall of 2000) was created within the last couple of months to discredit his "breaking story".

There have been some brokers and economists that have actually suggested an Amero, and theres been some discussion, but the article stating that it's a done deal is a fable. And I'm very sure that the Mexican government would just love to have a currency backed by the economies of Canada and the United States. Wouldn't you if you were Mexico?

There's a lot of alarmist buzz going on out there. I think they have good reason to be alarmed. We need to keep our eyes and ears open, and keep track of what our government is doing. That being said, most of what's published on the internet about the North American Union and the Amero is pretty much paranoia at work. It is being discussed, but don't worry too much about it -- the government can't sneak it into being without the American people being aware of it. I really can't see George Bush or anyway placing the sovereignty of the U.S.under an uber-American Union. There's just too much that needs to happen for it to be a done deal behind our backs. And heck, even in the European Union, each country retains its own sovereignty.

Here's the official scoop from the gov't: http://www.spp.gov/

And especially the "myths and facts" page: http://www.spp.gov/myths_vs_facts.asp

It was not being done behind are back, it was done up front.
just no one paid any attention. Finaly some americans did when they where trying to give mexcian truck drivers teh right to drive in the US.

there is a big deal now about something called the law of the sea.

that some people feel give up to much of american sovereignty,

It's just a figure of speech. Of course it was done out in the open and up front. The reason no one paid any attention is that the White House has almost total control over news coverage. If something's going on they don't want the American people to know about, that's easily managed. Just leave it out of the President's schedule and out of the press briefing. They'll never know it happened.
