My cat is making me crazy!

HI! I'm new here! I have a 5 year old male cat and lately he has been scratching and meowing at the door. He seems desperate to get outside! Nothing seems to divert his attention for very long. I can't imagine what he wants because he has been an indoor cat since he was 6 weeks old. He has recently undergone some treatments for a blocked urethra and 2 weeks later he had to have a tooth removed. (poor baby!) I don't know if this may be a reason for his strange behavior? ANY advice would be so appreciated! Thanks!

have you thought about training him to walk on a harness and leash? this helped my curious girl alot about the outdoors..hope this helps..good luck.

Yeah he is nuetered! I have tried putting a harness on him, but he hates it!

hey, one of my cats displayed the same behaviour too! We actually place a bell at the door, whenever he wants to go out, he will ring the bell and we will let him out but on a lash. He hates it initially but after a few times, he becomes accustomed to it. I guess he became more focused on getting out rather than on the lash as time goes by.

So no worries, just continue with the lash, your kitten will get used to it...

Thanks for the suggestions! I would try tolet him out on a leash but I live in an apartment and he would only be able to go out on the deck. Which is why this whole thing is so weird! I might try a harness again, but he usually just runs around all crazy whenI put it on him! I just wish I knew what he wanted outside?

Because he's smelling other cats out there (even if we can't do that).

Ahh... That does make sense. He's kind of a weird cat anyway so nothing suprises me, it is just so annoying. Actually he hasn't done it at all tonight. Thank God!!
