do two cats ever play or do they just 'play fight'?

my 2 boys are constantly 'fighting' and never try to play with toys together. Unless ofcourse they are alone individually or I'm also playing w/ them.

I've seen a group of kittens (littermates) play with toys together. Like chasing paper or a ball you throw.

But not in the way 2 dogs might play. They usually hunt and tackle each other, chasing, etc.

Heh, my male cat plays fetch with hair ties. Brings it back for me to throw again and everything.

My 3 boys are ALWAYS wrestling with each other and chasing each other all over the house. The only toy that I can think of at the moment that they play with together is a bottle cap and that usually ends in a wrestling match.

I think part of the reason that two or more cats seldom play with a toy together is that once another cat is involved the other cat makes a much more interesting toy to them than any inanimate object, heh.
