I'm considering adopting an approximately 1 yr old female. She is a rescue and was pregnant and in "poor" condition when she was brought to my vet about 5 months ago. They have had her on a prescription diet since the crsytals were discovered and there has been no recurrance. They say she may no longer need the prescription diet but they don't know for sure.
I'm concerned that having the crystals at such a young age may indicate that she is prone to them. Given that I have 3 other cats it could be a problem to have her on a special diet but I don't know that I would want to put them all on it to make it more convenient.
I wonder if it might be that the crystals were present primarily because of her situation. That is that poor diet and stress brought them on and that with a safe and comfortable home it could be that she could eat the same food as what I am currently feeding my other 3 and have no problem.
I'd love to hear from someone who has some experience with a similar situation.
