Goodness, I had to look at your picture just to remember what a loom was!

You don't see those nowadays. I've only seen one once at a museum.

I'm so envious - we really don't have a place for one. I did weaving in college and found it was a great stress reliever.

Can't quite tell - how many harnesses?

Wow, that is so amazing! What are you planning to weave -- rugs, or blankets, or ??? That's something I've always wanted to do. Congratulations for achieving that goal! btw, I love your quote -- and agree 100%!

I think it's an antique. I will be learning to begin with and making wall hangings and if and when I get good enough I can make fabric for garments. I have a long way to go.

I tried to make my son's football jersey just a tad smaller and ended up serging the arm right off shirt.

Here and there
Oooh, I'm jealous. I did a lot of weaving in college, too, but I don't have the room or the money for a loom. I really miss weaving.

That's why I don't tell too many people I have a loom. I feel old enough already.

Abigail, is that a Glimakra? It looks beautiful. Tell us some more.

oh my heavens no, it's not a glimakra. no way could I afford one of those. this is made by H.M. Stuart ( it's stamped on the castle) and I think it's pretty old but works perfectly- isn't too noisy and fits in the space. only has a 24 inch weaving width but that will do.

It IS lovely isn't it?

Oh, it's such a beautiful thing! It would be wonderful to have just as a piece of art, but to be able to make things with it too... what fun you'll have!
I can hardly wait to see more of your work!

I fear it's going to be an expensive one. i got the loom and all the accessories from a woman who is no longer physically able to loom for --- $200. I am still amazed at the deal. but my husband fears I will more than make up for it by buying a new stash of yarns. i already hoard fabric for sewing.

I love that I could put it in the den near the fireplace. I feel like some pioneer woman when i work on it. tomorrow I am going to warp it with some white linen and see what sort of mess I can concoct.

My cat goes beserk when she sees all that yarn.
