I'm really surprised that no one's mentioned buying online???
or at bulk discount places like Costco.

I have a lot of options here but for pricier things for my babies I go online...
you'd be surprised...

here's one, but there are a lot...

I feed my guys mostly authority canned because it does not contain by-products, comes in a variety of flavors (for the regular adult and two kitten flavors) and is relatively cheap (~60c. per 5.5oz, and ~45c per 3oz can). I will also buy them the nutro cans if they are on sale or if I have a coupon. You can sign up for nutro's "frequent buyer program" (you can't use the program at petsmart or petco btw) and they will send you a booklet of coupons with a good amount off of cans and the baged food...i.e. $1 off 6 cans, $1 off 12 cans, $3 off food, $2 off food, etc. (two or three of each of those coupons) Our nutro rep frequents our petsmart about once a month and will also leave coupons on bags of food. FYI, the nutro and authority are traditional "loaf" style cans, which my cats love, but yours might not if they like the meat in gravy style food.

I will also feed the meow mix market selects cups, which the cats like, but I've stopped feeding them because I think that my guys might be allergic to fish (and all of the meow mix cups have fish in them).

I have not fed the nutro pouches since the recall, although I fed some before the recall and the cats weren't crazy about them then.

Thank you artgecko! I just signed up for Nutro Frequent Buyer program.
Authority canned seems to be the only food that is slightly over my budget but of good quality.

My kitties enjoy pate food, and I avoid things with wheat gluten , so they never have any foods with gravy or of special shredded cuts, etc.

NP,
Nutro also has all sorts of other coupons frequently... There's some link that you can go to (which slips my mind at the moment) that you can sign up for a free small bag of dry food.... check out the "free stuff" thread, I think there's a link in there.

Authority doesn't usually go on sale, but nutro does and if you can get it on sale AND use a coupon, you really can save a lot... Same with the dry food, if it is on sale for $8.99 a bag and you have a $3 off coupon, that isn't bad.

I don't think the meow mix cups have wheat/corn glutin in them and they are relatively cheap, but I am not sure.

I buy Fancy Feast at Costco, it's $0.40 a can but you have to buy the pack of 36.

I tried feeding my cat the Natural Choice wet food by Nutro before introducing her to Fancy Feast and she didn't seem to like it. I have a few cans left of the Natural Choice but she goes crazy for Fancy Feast.

Im on a pretty tight budget and I use NaturaLife from walmart... Its .76 cents a can though... But they eat so little of it that it doesn't really matter.. Its the only one that so far hasn't caused any UTI's in BooBoo that the kittens like too! If you can get a coupon for it it ends up really cheap!

Actually, they DO have wheat gluten in them.

The only MM wet that I am aware of that does NOT is the Tuna & Shrimp, but again, the OP is trying to avoid fish first and foremost, and ALL MM wet has fish in it.

I have tried almost every brand of wet food. My cats will not eat the pate or loaf style, but only chunks with gravy. Out of every brand I've tried they prefer Friskies. Of course its pirced right. They also like FF. As far as being made in China, what isn't. Almost everything I buy comes from China. Its impossible to find made in USA anymore, at least at an affordable price. Lets hope the FDA is policing the pet food.

I was wondering if MeowMix comes in cans? (5 or more ounces).. because I've only seen the 3.3 ounce CUPS.. do they not make any cans or anything more than 5 ounces? Thanks!
