We have recently rescued some Siames/Sphynx mixes that someone has been breeding and then apparently tossed on the streets. Several intact males and older kittens.

They are seal pointed but built like a sphynx and almost hairless. Who knows what kind of problems might arise in them from mixing these breeds though. They will stay in foster homes until adopted.

I just don't understand why someone would want to mix these 2 breeds
Unfortunately we haven't been able to find out who is doing it.

Unless you really know if someone is crossing the 2 breeds, it may just be pointed Sphynx. The Sphynx ancestors are mainly Devon rexes which do carry the pointed gene. Both Cornish and Devons were bred to Siamese at some point and both have the pointed gene.

You don't have to cross a breed like the rexes or the sphynx to get a pointed cat - its in the gene pool of recessive color genes.

As far as throwing them out on the street - that's plain wrong. I'd be mad about the fact that someone is just turning them loose or letting their sphynx breed without any thought. I hope you all figure out who is doing it and can stop them.

There was one female kitten picked up that was very dark grey, almost black. She wasn't completely hairless either. There is no telling really, just what they are breeding and why and I don't know why some of them are being thrown on the streets.

Some people just make me sick
