Is it just me, or is prime time shows getting entirely too grapic. Espeically detective shows like CSI. I forget what show we were watching (during dinner) and it showed a car getting blown up...and a leg flying out of the explosion (I think it was Bones). I love the stories and how they come up with things, but I really don't need to see maggots crawling all over a body or see what they pull out when they're doing an autopsy. Maybe I just have a weak stomach, but it seems like they are much more graphic than they were last year. Is it just me?

More graphic with gore and sex. There are VERY few shows IMO worth watching. Most are "trash" that don't have good morals in them.

I wish some of the more decent funny sitcoms would return. Like those shown on TV Land

Yeah, but you gotta understand, it's CSI. It's going to be gory, realistic, weird and they have to make it better every time.

It is a little unnecessary, but if you don't want to see stuff like that you are the one with the remote (and if not, you can leave the room). You can't blame anyone else for what you choose to watch.

As for the "maggots", often they're not even fly larvae. Most commonly used are meal worms and super worms. Having used both of these beetle larvae as feeders for my geckos and having bred them, I can honestly say there is nothing gross about them. My thoughts over that is usually "What a waste of food".

Oh, I know I chose to watch it, so I'm not blaming anyone. I just think some of it is over the top. Like the leg flying out of the explosion. I know what will happen if someone gets blown up....do they really have to include that?

As for the maggots, I know they aren't real maggots feeding on real decaying flesh, but when you're watching TV and they show that, and you're eating spaghetti...well, it's not a good combination. Maybe I should just stop watching the shows during dinner.

On a similar topic, I'm amazed nowadays what time certain programmes are shown at. It shows how much times have changed. When we were kids shows such as Dallas, the Golden Girls, Dynasty etc were all shown after the watershed as they were full of sex. Now they're repeated during the day all the time.

Regarding the gore, I'm not squeamish but I think some of these shows rely on the shock factor to draw viewers.

I decided that a long time ago

Personally I don't mind the gore and don't find them trashy because CSI etc are based on what the police do deal with (ok all pushed into an hour for TV and overdramatic in some cases - but they do deal with body parts and autopsies and maggots)

I had a nightmare from watching Criminal Minds a few weeks ago. One of the episodes was very graphic/scarry to me. (normally they're not that bad- but this one was.) I still LOVE the show though!

I don't mind gore at all, and I like over the top tongue-in-cheek gore films like Brain Dead, etc. I guess because I grew up watching horror films. (I do enjoy creepy ghost films more than gore-fests, however.)

That said, I do agree that prime time has become more daring when it comes to gore. There have been a few times when I've been shocked that they got away with what they did on network TV. I've watched less and less TV over the past few years, because while I believe the quality of the good shows is rising every year, the number of good shows are really dropping.

That was Bones when the "soccer mom" got blown up.
I watch a lot of the shows that you mentioned. It bothers me more when I am eating breakfast with the TV on they are showing a real medical procedure on the news.

I don't watch much TV.
Mostly I catch Las Vegas in the mornings, or some Voyager re-runs.

I don't watch a lot of those show, partially because,I get scared easily, and secondly because I have children, my 10 year old goes to bed a nine,

I enjoy watching Prisonbreak on Fox... but that's proabably due to my curious nature about the bad side of life, seeing how I work for law enforcement.

I'm glad someone else brought this up, I was just complaining to my friend about the last Bones show where they highlighted "Pony Play" I thought that was WAY to risque for an 8 o'clock show! the gore ans stuff doesn't bother me too much, but when there are sex-themed shows at 8 o'clock I get a little outraged...and I don't even have kids

i dont really watch much network TV, mostly cause the shows are junk.
it seems every show is the same, unless they are making jokes about sex or some poor white husband who life is ran by his wife and mother and mother in law, they cant make a funny show.

the last comedy network show i can remember watching is night court.
i have never seen bones, or csi.
