Hello all! I am so glad to have found this forum!
Sadly, I lost my 14-year-old cat back in August... It took me a while to heal and get back on my feet, but I did.
Once I was better I knew it was time to give a home to some new kitties: I adopted two sister kittens last weekend from the local Humane Society. I named them Buttercup and Sandy. They are 5month old tabbys, and they are so cute, cuddly, and happy to be in my cozy apartment!
Their first week has been pretty smooth, they became acclimated very quickly to my home and seem very comfortable. This is my first time with more than one cat, so some things are still new to me. I am concerend about a few behaviors that maybe you all have some input on:
1. Buttercup seems to be the "dominant sister." Sometimes she attacks Sandy out of the blue (like from when they're sleeping) and they begin biting and rolling around. I don't think they're hurting or even fighting b/c they're not making and noises, I am just concerned that this is normal. Also, when I am sleeping at night, Buttercup will come up to me and bite my hands in the same manor, not really hard, but more than just a nibble. I have tried blowing in her face and that stops her, but she does it again the next night. At other times during the day, she does not do this.
2. How do I keep them from trying to escape every time I go out the front door? Also, how do I make sure they're not going on the kitchen counter when I am not home? For the first week, they were in one room when I wasn't home, but I think they're okay now to be in the whole apt. I just don't want them hurting themselves.
Thank you in advance for your help. If I need to post these questions somewhere else, just let me know.
Happy to be here!

p.s. I was hoping to attach a picture of my girls for you all to see, but I don't seem to have "permission" to do that. Can anyone help me with that? thanks!
