How do you guys go about collecting stool samples for the vet?
(Other than watching them very closely
)

I have to take my 3 to the vet in the am tomorrow and am trying to figure out the best way to get each ones poo between now and then...I think I know what Pumpkin's looks like for some reason hers is different than the boys...

hhhmmmmideas?

First of all I'm a multiple kitty daddy.

Second, I had to do the same thing. The best thing you can do is encourage them to eat by wetting / warming their food. Since you only have to decide between the boys you're going to have to watch them until you see one going in the litter box, once you get that sample, the next will likely be the other boy's.

If you need a sample from one particular cat, its best to isolate that cat (bathroom/bedroom) and keep them there till they use the litter pan.

That's one reason to have a large cage when you have multiple cats - you put the cat in there, take the sample and then let them out

Haha... It's ok, I think I'm like the only guy on these forums though. I don't know why it is so common for women to be associated with cats and guys with dogs. I actually like cats better because they remind me more of a woman's personality. Dogs just love you no matter what... you could slap their muzzle and 2 minutes later they're licking you...

I guess I enjoy working for a cats affection and earning their trust. I feel much more accomplished in the relationship and they love me because I'm worth it, not just because I'm there.

Thanks for changing the thread title though
:p

I've always found that giving them a fresh, clean litterbox enhances their desire to poop; thereby making my job a lot easier.

Clean the litterbox....show the cat the box....they almost always take advantage of the opportunity.

Works for me

I dunno. I usually just get one general sample from the "floor family"(mine are split permanently between floors because Ophelia doesn't like girls).

I never do, I use one of those blue things with a loop at the end, a fecal loop maybe its called? it pulls some right out and then I can do the fecal
Your vet can just do that if you can't get a definate sample, plus, it's fresher anyways.
