Ok, I was a little hesitant to post this because we've had the abortion debate so many times before... but I thought the findings were important to consider, regardless of where you stand on the morality of abortion.

I don't know why anyone would be surprised. All the more reason to keep abortion legal and in a safe environment like a doctor's office with medical tools, as oppose to a back alley and a coat hanger.

I'm not shocked at all. In fact, I'm surprised it's not higher where it's illegal, because those countries tend to not have as much access to birth control.

That was one of the reasons stated when they legalized abortions in Mexico recently. Women in America seem to forget exactly why it was legalized in the first place.

It is illegal because of moral issues.... but it is also morally wrong for some people to get pregnant in their circumstances/religion.

There will never be one same answer for everyone.

IMO, if abortion were legal everywhere then there would be less women with fertility issues due to mistakes by the back alley surgeons.

No. But in most cases you can't get them on the NHS (National Health Service) So you have to pay.

If you have to have it due to possible complications then its free on the NHS.

If the ultrasound scan shows up any deformities or high risk of deformity, then they will ask if you would like to continue the pregnancy
