Spike is really cute!!!! I have had 4 Iguana's in my life, none right now. Right now we have a Savannah monitor. Again, he is really cute!

to be honest, he does do that after a bath..he's really grumpy when you pick him up but once he's back in his tank it's obvious how good his skin feels...so, we just wear welding gloves when we take him outta the bath..thick enough it doesn't hurt..and steer clear of his tail...(my bf got tail whipped where men are a bit "sensitive" once)

i believe he is older than he looks..the people we rescued him from had no history on him but from what i hear he has been severely malnourished. his toes are also somewhat deformed. THEY WERE FEEDING HIM DOG FOOD AND ROSE PETALS FOR NUTRITION. it made me so mad. AND THEY WERE KEEPING HIM IN A CAT CARRIER. no wonder the little guy has never had a concept of a proper bath to help that shedding skin along before. he is quite friendly most of the time.
anyway, enough of my venting in answer to your question, his tail does hurt when your bf just got outta bed and is only wearing his boxers
