Well, if someone could hold my hand on this one. I have a beautiful pair of twin blue/gray bobtails that are 3 months old, just rescued and sick with a respiratory inf. I need to give antibiotics with dropper and also needs eye drops. How does one go about this? Any suggestions? They weight 3 lbs. Sorry if this is trivial. Never had to forcefully give any animal med. My dogs always snarffed a pill down with any food. Thanks for your time and advice.

I'm not sure if I can explain this properly....grasp them firmly by the scruff of the neck, take the dropper and put it in the side of their mouth and let the antibiotic go across their tongue, not into the back of their throat so they don't aspirate. You should also be able to hold the kittens still the same way for the eye drops. If scruffing doesn't work, try wrapping them tightly in a towel. Hope this is understandable and helps.

There is paste available that you put on the inside of their ears. You might check with your vet to see if they have this available. We find it's much easier than trying to pill or give liquid.

Well I feel really stupid asking this but is this paste an antibiotic that is absorbed through the skin or how does this work?

Yes, it works systemic. I believe you can get it in a different variety of meds besides just antibiotics. We have used this on our semi-feral cats and it worked really well. We just acted like we were rubbing and petting it while the other one applied it quickly. You just place the amount recommeded on the tip of your finger and rub it inside the ear.

Thank you. I'll have to look into that.

Thanks to all of you. I am going to ask about the paste. If we don't have the paste in this area, I guess I'm getting out the nice thick towels and/or going for the scruff of the neck. They are just afraid and we big bad humans aren't helping matters!

Our vet does not keep it supplied. We have to order this through mail delivery from the vets office. Good luck!
