Every time I see something like this, I wish I had a time machine;

11,000 year old wall painting found

Look at the ruins today of buildings like the Parthenon, the Roman Colosseum, Petra, Babylon; and imagine what they would have looked like when they were fully painted in their brilliant, primary colors. Or when the Great Pyramids still had their exterior shells of polished limestone. What wonderful buildings they must have been.

Ah, well

We always wished we could travel back in time too - imagine what you could see!

We would love to see ruins when they were just completed. They are amazing as they are now, they must of been breathtaking back then! To see the variety of different cultures would be great
At least we can still see most of the ancient ruins to this day. Thanks for sharing that link - it was a good article & loved the photos of the old painting!

Wow! It looks like it would be amazing. With art, I always wish i could see what it looked liek brand new...or even better, as it was being created! Can you imagine watching Michelangelo paint in the Sistine Chapel??

Sigh, I wish for a time machine everytime I look at my genealogy "brick walls".

I would also love to be able to save all the documents that were in the library of Alexandria.

Oh my gosh, what a thought! And yes, Jan, the library at Alexandria... what a treasure was lost there.

This painting is astonishing -- I really would not have expected geometric designs from such an early time! And inventive ones, too, not just tic-tac-toe boards, but using the blocks to arrange colors into shapes, as if it were a mosaic... this was a real artist who did this!

I love the more traditional cave paintings, with animals, like at Lascaux... they have a slightly stylized quality I really admire. But this is so completely different! I wonder if it was just a design, or if the artist intended it to represent something.

Thank you for sharing this!

That is awesome. 10,000 years old, incredible. I love Archaeology.

I love going hiking around here to see petroglyphs.
