Ferris gave up instead, and I was able to catch him and crate him for a vet visit.

I was still sweating at the vet's - I must have chased Ferris through the house three times, under two beds before he got himself cornered on the kitchen counter, and then he was MINE! Ha-HAAAA!!!

Ferris seems to enjoy the sound of his yowling when it is amplified by my back hallway.

My poor boy. He yelled at me the entire way to the truck, then again all the way back up into the apartment, but was silent through the drive and the office visit. He had a simple blood test done, we should know the results by end of day. We are looking for anemia, or the absence of it.
I hope he's ok!

Ginger was easy-peasy, as per usual, though she trembled through her exam. She's fine, 8.6 pounds, a very healthy little 2 year old.

My vet is hard of hearing, and obviously never heard of Raw Instinct - he thought I was feeding them all raw, and was giving me horrified looks - it was funny. He's a holistic vet and sells frozen raw, but couldn't understand why I would make a switch to raw.

He now thinks that I feed only kibble, because he didn't let me finish telling him what foods they were eating - whatever, I'm ok with that.

He also told me that he will try to get a waiver from the city regarding rabies shots in the future for Ginger - I think he'd given her the 3-year last year, and that is the one she reacted to, so I think we are still ok with that.

He told me that if the city won't give a waiver, that he can't treat her anymore, as he would be liable for not giving her the shot.

I think that Ginger is going to wind up not seeing a vet regularly in the future. That kind of bums me out. If she doesn't get a waiver, no one can treat her without giving her the shot if she isn't up to date...and that could kill her.

Well, she is very, very healthy right now, and so I guess I'll just keep an eye on her, and hope for the best.

I will keep my fingers crossed that the city grants the waiver!
And that Ferris does NOT have anemia!

Very interesting about the rabies shot. I tried to put myself into that situation, and if it came down to me giving her a shot that would make her sick or no vets at all, I would choose the no vets at all AND I would be researching extensively if an ailment came up. Then I would do the herbal thing for medication.

OMG! That's the way I was with Luna - she would NOT go in her carrier for the trip to the vet, then down here.

So the way to the vets office she road free
I know its dangerous, but heck, it was all I could do to get her to go.

That's funny about the rabies shot. When Luna had her first shot, she did have a reaction to it. So the vets at the time made a note to use another form of the rabies shot. I would check around to see if there is another form of the shot in your area.

Also is Ginger more than 5 years old? If she's strictly indoors and older than 5 years then you should be able to get away with it. Patches and Beauty have not had their rabies shots for about 8-9 years.

Good luck on that waiver, in lieu of that, here's hoping Ginger never has to have vet visits.

Spaz also cannot get rabies shots due to her last reaction.
Her vet was unable to get a waiver for her.
Thankfully, she has been as healthy as a horse her entire life (knocks on wood).
MIL is a tech though and does give her a looking over twice a year and has drawn blood and established her baseline senior values in case of emergency.
But this is all done here at home (well, not the lab work).

Oh Ferris!!

Here in NY the rabies shot is required BUT we have declined getting it for Roxie as she is strictly indoors and an only pet. Our vet talked to us about the consequences but we told him no and that was the end. They never mentioned anything about a waiver. Just told us we would be liable if she ever bit someone and they contracted it from her. The law may not require a waiver here but I am unsure.

I hope you get the waiver you need and that Ferris is in good health!!
