I feel like the biggest IDIOT right now! You guys i sooo just washed my cell phone
I was busy doing laundry and trying to work on planning our wedding when i got distracted while i was emptying the pockets of my pants. Instead of reaching into my pockets to check for anything i just quickly felt them and then tossed them in the wash. I have a pink razr phone (my mom gave to me for my birthday last year) and it's soo thin i didn't even feel it when i my jeans in the washing machine!
It was about 10 minutes before i noticed it was missing too. I saw Colin talking on his cell phone and then i thought to myself "oh, i better find my phone to set my alarm for work in the morning" after looking around the house for it- i couldn't find it. So i had Colin try calling it when he got of the phone with his friend. We never heard it ring. It was at that point it dawned on me....ohhhh crap! I bet it's in the wasing machine
Sure enough, i stopped the wash cycle and pulled my soaking wet jeans out to find my poor phone soaking wet
/ I know it's just a phone -BUT it's the only one i have as we don't have a home phone and i'm constantly using it to make calls from the shelter about rescues/etc and everything else, i also use it as my alarm clock, etc and keep the calender in it up to date with all my appointments/etc -so it is pretty important to me! Ahhh I can't belive i did that!

Fortunately though- we were able to take it apart and dry it off a bit- i'm hoping that in a few days it will be dried out and just MAYBE will work! Lucky for me the sim card is just fine- so i was able to take it out of my regular phone and put it in one of my older cell phones (i'm SOOOOO glad i kept it!). And get this- just last night my mom had brought over several boxes of my things from home (i'm still moving my stuff into colin's a little at a time- i have most of my stuff, but some of the smaller things my mom's been bringing over. it just so happens that one of the boxes had some of my electronic things in it- calculators, etc, and my old cell charger that matches my old phone!!!
what a blessing!!! i'm SOOOO glad my mom did that last night!
) So even though it stinks my regular phone is now "washed", at least i'm fortunate i have my old one and it works just fine!!!

Can I please get some silly little "dry out pink phone and work!" vibes?
I can't believe i washed that phone
What a week!

Understandable, you're planning a wedding for pete's sake!
I have a (Red) Razor that I'm very protective of since my hubby shorted out my other one.
Is your 2 year upgrade coming up? Because they're coming out with a newer and better Razors! I got my Razor with my two year upgrade. It cost me $60 in the store with a $50 mail in rebate.

Thankyou for the tip! I'm hoping the phone will dry out and work ok (but i'm seriously doubting it will- the whole thing was sudsy
) If it doesn't though- i will be joining Colin's cell phone plan in March when we get married, so i might hold out for a new phone until then and just use my old one. So maybe by the time i get a new one if i wait- the new Razors will be out!

Do you have any sort of insurance on the phone?

My brother in law just lost his a few days ago, called to cancel the service to that phone (so no one else could use it) and had a new one sent to him overnight.

I saw a prototype in a store. They have a bigger LCD screen on the front and inside, a better keypad (straighter, unlike the current one) and supposively better programing.

Thankyou soooo much for that link!!!! I tried one of the tips!! I'm hoping it works! We don't have the right kind of alcohol to try the rubbing alcohol tip- but we do have tons of rice- so put the phone in a huge cup of dry rice and hopefully that will absorb some of the moisture and help dry it out!!! Thanks again!!!

Wouldn't you know i had the same thought when i pulled my old blue Nokia out to see if the chip would work in it! That phone has really held up! My old Nokia -i swear i dropped it 50 times
and it still works as well as the day i bought it years ago. I'm soo glad i have it as a trusty backup!

Not me, I've never washed my phone. I've refrigerated it, slammed it in a car door, and have had to chase Freeway down twice to get it back (it has a lanyard on it that Freeway thinks is great fun)

When my brother jumped in the lake this last summer, of course his phone was in his pocket.
We called verizon and they told us to stick the phone is a bowl of uncooked plain white rice. It helps pull the water out and dry the phone out. It worked like a charm!

Motorola's are really good phones and given you give it a few days to dry out it should work fine. My last Motorola got knocked off the bathroom counter and into the toilet and was in there for a few minutes before I noticed it! We dried it off as best we could and left it to dry for a few days. It still worked just as good as it had before. for your phone to dry and function properly!!
