be happy, sing along with it, and "get down and boogie"?!

Whenever I'm doing chores, or cooking - and sometimes if I'm feeling blue - I play a specific type of music to cheer me up, or just to "boogie" to while I'm doing my chores. Granted, I don't boogie too much anymore b/c of my back situation, but just listening to music cheers me up and makes me wanna sing along to it!

My favorite is (don't laugh!) Jive Bunny & the Mix-Masters, which is a combination of songs put together. Or a group called The Sweet. These two groups always lightens my mood, and makes me wanna sing & boogie!

I may be "old" (49), but I'm still a teen at heart!

What type of music cheers you up and make you wanna get down & boogie?

There are a good few Queen songs that I'll turn up on the radio and croon along to.......

Social Distortion, DriveBy Truckers, Hank Williams III, Reverand Horton Heat, Staind, Belmont Playboys, some rock oldies, Jethro Tull, Meat Loaf, Pink Floyd. Some country oldies, Johnny Cash,Willie Nelson, Billy Joe Shaver, Waylon Jennings, Emmylou Harris. Just depends on my mood and what I am trying to get done.

What makes me happy: Uncle Walt's Band! Few people outside of Texas and the Carolinas know them, and two of the three passed away tragically young... but country fans may know David Ball, who was the third member, as a solo artist. They played something that rode the line between swingy jazz and Depression-era country... guitars, stand-up bass, sometimes mandolin or fiddle. Tight three-part harmonies. I can't hear their voices without smiling!

What makes me boogie: Steely Dan! About as different from Uncle Walt as you could get, but how I love their sophisticated chording and sly, wry lyrics! Fagen's solo work is great, too -- especially the Nightfly album, which makes my top ten list of all time.

What makes me sing along: Everybody! You can't shut me up!

Ah, YES - Meatloaf! Paradise By the Dashboard Light! I always had to request it, back in the days when I used to go out dancing!

Pink Floyd is definitely my all time fav,
but it doesn't make me wanna boogie. I just love to sit back and listen to it, full blast, with no distractions. I can really get into them!
Especially "The Wall"..

Martina Mcbride
Happy Hardcore (techno)
Saliva
Ferry Corsten (techno)
Big and Rich
Jo Dee Masena
Cat Stevens
Eagles
Metalica
Kelly Clarkson

OH the list goes on but as you see I don't listen to just one genre. LOL

Well it doesn't necessarily make me feel happy, but it's always a worthwhile emotional release when I belt out/sing/play along to:

Depeche Mode
The Cure
Keane
Smashing Pumpkins
Soundgarden
Audioslave
Blind Melon
Our Lady Peace
Radiohead
Alice In Chains

I can't name specific artists, there's way too many .. Mostly anything hip hop related, punk alternative (Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance) and anything country. Right now, two of my favorite songs that I LOVE to blare on my way home, are The Great Escape by Boys Like Girls, and Face Down by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.

I'll sing along with anything Josh Groban...I adore his voice and his music. I guess you could say I'm a Grobanite at heart...

Bat Out of Hell (Meatloaf), Beat Surrender, Town Called Malice (The Jam).
But I only put Bat Out Of Hell on in my CD player when I'm in the car and driving on the freeway so I can drive a bit faster and sing at the top of my lungs!!! The other two songs, I have to be able to boogie. I must shake my groove thang when those two are on!!!

Mostly Classic Rock, folk, and such. I adore Fifties/Sixties/Seventies music and all of those artists, if I had to write a list of how many I love it would be long. VERY long. Wo0t
I also love earlier stuff like Swing and Jazz and such so I usually clean up the kitchen while doing a foxtrot or something silly.

Bon Jovi gets me singing. I put a bunch of his songs on a CD, and I'll be riding down the road ... "Whoa, we're halfway there, whoa, livin' on a prayer.."
