I know there have been threads about this before but we're seriously considering getting a second cat for company for Harry and I want to get it right!
The facts are:
1. Harry is now 6 months and will be neutered this day 2 weeks.
2. We just came back from our first holiday since getting him; he was in the cattery and he has cried his heart out all day today
3. We now want to get a second cat for company for him as we can get someone in to feed both with peace of mind that they are looking after each other.
The main issues for me are that my mother's 2 cats are mother and son and hate each other, I have a neighbour who has a brother-sister combo and he bullies her and I know there are no guarantees in life. But I want to get a second cat for Harry's sake and no-one elses so what if they don't get on??!!
My plan without advice would be to get a neutered male of similar age from a shelter. Is this advisable? Sorry for all the detail but while I would be delighted to have another cat in my life, I don't want to upset my number one baby!!
