I was reading the Evo thread and was wondering why if the ingredients are usually the same, dog food is so much cheaper? Have we been took, hoodwinked, bamboozled, led astray, run amok

I have often wondered this too. Especially after the cat food brand I use, raised prices on their cat food only.

Also, many stores do not carry near as much cat food choices at dog food. It's very frustrating.

Cat food contains more meat protein. And meat is more costly.

One thing that I wonder if it factors in is that dog food can be packaged into much bigger packages. 20 lbs. is a big bag of cat food, but 40-50 lbs is a big bag for dog food.

Hey I'd be ecstatic if they made 40lb bags of cat food. Especially if there was a cost reduction factor in there.
