I have 2 adult male cats (neutered). We just got a kitten about 2 weeks ago. We keep him in a separate room unless we are there to supervise. There is some hissing/swatting there's been no fighting so we're OK there.

The kitten is about 8 weeks old and wants out in the worst way. When can I let him have the run of the house with the others?

I have one 4 year old Calico and a kitten who will be 6 months old on Oct. 20th. They get along really well along with the two Golden Retrievers. My concern is the kitten not destroying my house and getting hurt in the process!

IMO untill he's ok with the big boys and you can trust him NOT to get in trouble, he should be confined if you are not there to supervise. We got Charlie at 4 months old, and he was allowed unsupervised freedom only after 5 months old. Otherwise he stayed in the library room if we were not home.

So I would not let him be unsupervised till several months from now.

Only let your little kitten out if you know the other cats won't harm him & that he won't get into trouble.

We have 8 week old kittens that have free roam throughout the house, so you should be okay with letting him out. You could let him out a little bit at a time - slowly let him get used to all the scents & new things. Just keep an eye on him, if he gets too overwelmed, then put him back in his safe room, & try again later.

Try letting him out a little, it should be okay, just keep watch
Kitty Proof your house if you haven't already. Enjoy your new kitten!
