I go to court at 11am today for the restraining order I placed on a former customer.
http://thecatsite.com/forums/showthr...ht=restraining
They placed a temporary order and today I have to go to court to try and get a perm. order.

I'm a little nervous because I got the paper in the mail last night stating he had been served and had to surrernder firearms/ammunition that he had.

It makes me think of "what if" he had a gun with him that day he was here

Or what if he still has a gun or something?

My mom is going with me this morning since DH had to work. My dad said to make sure a bailiff escorts us to and from the car just in case.

Anyways, I'm nervous so I thought I would ask for some vibes to calm me down and also that they grant it permenantly

I can relate to your being a bundle of nerves: we've been having to deal w/ my s/o's ex lunatic wife, and it's been a real joy.
She was busted last week for setting up a meth lab in their old house, and now the place is gonna be condemned for being a hazardous waste-site -- which means the place can't be sold, and we won't be able to sell it: we were looking forward to paying off OUR place w/ the money from the sale of their old house. But that's another story....

Anyways, I feel for ya, and am sending good vibes & blessings your way.

Crud, i just read further down. Why on earth would they deny it?? It's obvious what he did was illigal in more than one way, i reackon he was trying to get his kicks about the whole roof thing.

They said lack of evidence

This is very distressing to me

He had an attorney and I didn't. His attorney was VERY forceful also.
He kept trying to bring up the lawsuit that is a totally separate case.
I said to him several times "That does not pertain to this case and I have been advised to not speak about that at this time."

The customer did admit to everything he did and they said said it was still not enough?

The judge did tell him that he had NO business doing what he did and couldn't understand why he did it.
He also stated "I'm not ordering you but I advise to stay away from her and her family and if you do go around her, I will make sure you are prosecuted to the full extent of the law"

Sooo... yeah... People can apparently get away with doing these things nowdays.

I do feel like if I would have went in front of the first judge that was there this morning, I would have won. It was a woman and something similar happened with someone else and she granted it.
But noooooooo. I got the 2nd judge of the day

That just makes no sense. It wouldn't do any harm at all for them to grant the order -- but the potential for harm done by denying it is massive.

If it's any consolation, I've always heard that such orders rarely achieve much. They say that anyone who is actually deterred by the order is probably not much of a threat to begin with, and anyone who is a real danger won't be fazed by a restraining order. So what the heck are you supposed to do to protect your family?

A decent person with a righteous cause should not have to hire a lawyer to get justice in this country, but it sure seems like it's necessary, doesn't it? I just hope this was enough to slap the guy back to his senses, and maybe he'll leave you alone now.

Oh, how I want you to win the lawsuit against him!
