Introducing new kitten/cat and use of Feliway.

I have been reading about that new Comfort Zone plug-in Feliway product. Wondering if its use is appropriate when introducing a new kitten? I know it is used with great success for inappropriate spraying and all of that. Is it something that is used on a short-term basis, or is it of limited duration and use?

Is it used only after the spraying/in. elimation has occurred?

I was just thinking that if the day ever comes that I get another kitten/cat, would using that Plug in product be a good thing? Would it make all the kitties calm, peaceful and happy? Would it be too strong for a small kitten? Does it have an odor detectable by humans or dogs? And...if I was recommended to try such a product for introduction of a new kitten/cat, would this product be used all the time, or for a short duration during the period of introduction into the family?

Sorry for all the questions, but, you guys really are a wealth of knowledge and I just want to do the right thing by my babies! Cindy W.

The product is to new on the market. I haven't been able to find it locally yet, but when I do I intend to buy it. I like to support my town before I shop over the Internet, and I don't have a need for it at the moment. But I would think it would be a good thing to have on hand during introduction time. It was a great idea IMO

I recently got a new kitten and used the Feliway plug-in. I don't really know if it helped but Sally, my older cat has accepted Zacky completely in less than a week. She did hiss and be upset at first. Then she ignored him for a couple of days. Now they sleep together, play together and are best buddies. She washes him and they wrestle and chase. It has been great for her. So I am not sure if the Feliway helped but it seems as if it has. Becky Alvarez
