Hi,
As some of you may know from my previous postings, one of Pixie's kittens had an eye infection a couple of weeks back. The kittens (4) are now 6 weeks old and doing brilliantly - very lively, playful, affectionate, friendly, using litter tray, eating food etc... and this includes Ziggy (as we've called her). The only thing is that after 2 weeks of giving her anti-biotics and eye ointment, her eye is still not much better, in fact although it has opened up a bit more than it was it has now become red, which it has never been before. I am seeing the vet again tomorrow (he said swabs may be needed now), but just wondering if anyone else has had experience of an eye infection lasting this long? Also I am still weighing the kittens every week and she has only put on 1 oz in a week, while the others have all put on 4 oz, should I be concerned about this. She is the lightest of the bunch and always has been, I am just thinking that she should've put on more than that in a week, she eats lots so seems a bit strange. Obviously I will also mention this at the vets tomorrow, but would be interested to hear anybodys thoughts in the meantime? Thanks.

When we got Hannah, she had a terrible eye infection. It took 3 different meds and a good 6 weeks for it to totally clear up.

Don't have any words of wisdom on the kitty's weight, but I'm glad you'll be taking her back to the vet for follow up.

I find it very strange that the eye infection did not clear up. Maybe she just needs a different antibiotic? For the slower weight gain...that is concerning. I would try to get some more food into Ziggy. You could use KMR and bottle feed once or twice a day, and let her nurse and eat solids the rest of the day. Or try to arrange to have one or more of the other kittens taken away when Pixie is nursing them, so Ziggy gets more access to nurse.

Hope Pixie is doing better soon!
