for those of you who remember me, i am Marshmallow's mom, she had 5 babies on aug 4th. the vet said they could go last week, so i placed an ad on craigslist and adopted 4 of them out. the next day a lady emails me, she cant keep her kitten, not getting along with her cat which turned out to be one of many lies..red flags went up when she didnt want to bring the kitten home, but wanted to meet me somewhere. i go meet her and in only 2 days that baby was infested with fleas and sick. she handed me the kitten thru the car window and split, i did get her plate # though. i called animal control when i got home and they came out and had to take the kitten she was so bad off. it was more than i could deal with and my vet was closed. animal control went to her house and was denied access, so they won't do anything as far as cruelty goes. so, when i see someone posting cats or kittens for sale i email them about her and ive already had 1 lady tell me she got a orange kitten from her that was sick and had fleas. so, this is a habit for her. she also had 3 ads posted selling kittens, one was MINE, the orange kitten and 4 other cats. she told me she only had 1 cat, but then she said only 2 dogs, so one lie after another, i have 48 emails from her all lies...yes, i have printed them and saved them...i got my kitten back on sunday, she is flea free now and fine, but a little skinny..just be careful who gets your babies...do a home visit if you have too...wish i had...best of luck to you all...

You're not the first one that had a craigslist problem. Someone else in here happened to discover her kitten was being rehomed on craigslist. Some other members got the kitten from the lady and returned it to the original owner in here.

TCS is GREAT!

OH MY GOD !!!!!

I hate those kind of people ! How mean and HEARTLESS can you be to do this to kitten? With the plate number I would have found where she lived and burn down her garden !

I hope your kitty is doing better, sending mojo

Maybe with all that documentation animal control will be able to get a court order to seize all her animals.

Sick,Sick,Sick how can anyone abuse a kitten like this?? worse all kittens and or cats. I'm a christian, and it is just disgusting how some poeple treat these little gifts from God. Well trust me God will deal with this lady. Sorry to sound all religious on everyone but this is really vexing me. What goes around comes around and its only a matter of time b4 this lady sees justice served for her mistreatment of these gems Donna

Well, yes, but meanwhile, until she's judged by God, many more animals could be abused. I think this is a case where mankind takes matters into their own hands. Robin, I hope you'll try animal control again.

Yes--God gave us brains for a reason! But he'll have to judge her in the end, because goodness knows we don't have near stiff enough penalties for animal abuse...

I don't understand how people could mistreat ANY living thing thing like that. Or the lack of care for an animal and allow it to suffer... Craigslist is a scary, scary place... for both parties involved... when adopting you never know how truthful the previous family is being with you & they don't REALLY know you & have to trust in you, which has to be equally as hard.

I'm glad its not something I ever have to worry about.

I'm glad she is doing better now.

Yeah, I always worry about posting as on Craigslist because you never know what type of person will adopt. When I found Nico, a black long hair cat, at my work, I was adamant about finding an adoptive home of a friend or mutual aquaintance. Fortunately, my roommate's friend adopted her. However, I could not find anyone to adopt Holly Golightly. I then decided to keep her because I rather have the burden of owning another cat than wondering if she's ok in some stranger's home.

I think this is also worth a mention...there are people that look through places like the want ads and Craig'slist looking for free kittens and puppies to use as bait in training their dogs for dog fighting...sick, sick, sick practice but sadly true. Be very aware and don't be afraid to ask questions and also it doesn't hurt to charge a small rehoming fee to made sure someone is serious about providing a loving and safe home. Also spread the word to people you come across giving out free animals.

Blessings~

thanks for all of your replies, but sad news...the kitten do as well as i'd of liked when i got her home, she was anemic some still and skinny and yesterday got a horrible upper resp. infection and she didn't make it...she was put down this morning, once again prompting me to call animal control and insist this woman be investigated...my vet is backing me too, that it was the result of what she did that made that baby not recover...hopefully now some charges will stick...again, please be careful who you rehome to...

OMG!!!!!!!!! I am so so sorry for you and this poor kitty! I hope that this time Animal Control finally does do the right thing and check out this woman's home - for that poor kitten to come down with an upper respitory infection so quickly the living conditions must have been filthy
She had no right placing your kitten's life in danger like that. It all boils down to selfishness on her part.

This makes me so angry! I am so worried about this kind of thing happening. We need to re-home our little ones and am so anxious about it. I really hope I find nice people that will let us visit or see photos. Very sad about it all
