Our cat had kittens 6 days ago and now she won't use her litter box, she keeps going in our kitchen and living room. She never ever had problems using her litter box before this, and now she won't use it at all. And it sucks cuz her poop has been so runny and gross and stains the carpet. Any advice?

The best advise would be for you to take her to the vet ...there may be something inside that's causing her to do this - especially since she's only just delivered....

Yes have a vet check her out. She could have retained a placenta (which means infection) or ate too many which can cause loose stools. I usually only let mom eat 1-2 of them and get rid of the rest (since I'm right there to watch).

Confine her to a small room or bathroom with the litter pan and kittens, food, water. If you allow her too much freedom, she will have more problems - especially if she decides to move those kittens. Keep them all in one smaller area!

If you've now switched her to kitten food, then it could be that. Sometimes a sudden change in diet can lead to runny poo. Take her to the vets to make sure it's nothing from the birth, then start putting her old adult food in with the new kitten food and gradually phase out the adult food. Cat's can hold themselves, but with runny poo they can't, so she probably can't make it to the tray. Has she still been urinating in the tray or just not using it at all?

I hope nothings wrong

I assumed the runny poo was the new food, not as worried about that. I did keep her shut in the room with the kittens and litterbox and food and she did use the litterbox, so I guess it might be just because she can't hold it when she's away from the box.
