Did I read that right?? They feed off eachother? So, how do they decide which ones live and which ones get eaten?

Orb-web spiders are capable of really gorgeous huge webs sometimes. They are especially beautiful when dew or rain is on them and the sunlight hits...

I had a spider "collection" when I was a kid - for some reason a wide variety of spiders lived around our house and I relocated them to one particular large hedge...had a couple of tunnel-web types, a wolf spider living underneath, and orb spiders around the top. My mother HATED it but humored me...funny, my daughter hates spiders so much she won't even go in the same room with a cobweb! I like spiders, myself - anything that eats flies and gnats is
in my book!

I have to say I just really really don't like spiders BUT I CAN see their beauty. Not hairy ones though.

I woke up this week (Monday) and it was about 1am. I had felt something on my hand and I WACKED my husband. It was a spider. I wasn't dead. I had to run and get something and kill it on my bed. EEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWW

Then a kid showed me what CAMEL SPIDERS were......um YUUUUUUUUUCK

I couldn't get a really good shot. The domed part is in the back of the web facing the house and I couldn't get the camera in there.

Wow, she looks like she would bite your head off if you came any closer to her egglings, what a strangely beautiful creature

Oh my gosh.....I can't believe you made it out of there! I was getting ready and looked in the mirror to see a really big spider like that one on the wall behind me. I screamed and ran out! It was terrible!

If that thing was on my house I swear I'd never stop yelling "SMOOSH IT!"
You are way braver than I could ever be around spiders!

Hey, that's not a bad shot at all! Isn't it interesting how momma fusses over the egg sac? I noticed one actually detach and move hers to a new location when it rained.

I was kind of hoping she would detach hers and put it on the house because I'm afriad it will get hurt when it snows. It was actually raining when she was spinning the cacoon.
