My cat has a lower lip problem. He has a fat lip. It comes and goes. Sometimes on the sides or right in the middle. We stopped using plastic feeding bowls as per vet's advice. He still gets a fat lip.

Our other cat has no probs.

Has anyone had this prob, and what can we do?

thanx,

Hemicat

It's called a rodent lip ulcer and is an allergic reaction. Mine can get it from too much fish in her food.. so i stick with chicken and turkey. and yes the plastic dishes should be avoided and if you have a plastic mat under the food or water plate get rid of that and switch to a towel.

Thank you diana!

I replaced his food and water bowls, but never considered the mat. I doubt it's a food allergy...we feed him "Purina One" - Chicken and Rice.

I will replace the mat. Thanx again.

My Pinky also has the same problem. It also helps to sterilize the bowls daily if possible (dishwasher them and keep a spare to rotate in). And if you keep a mat, make sure you are washing that thoroughly on a regular basis.
