So this morning, I woke up to give my kitty her breakfast but she wasn't in her usual sleeping spot. I looked under the bed, in the closets, in the tub..everywhere but I couldn't find her. I got scared..my husband woke up earlier that morning to go biking so I started thinking maybe she got out. I saw her treat bag and shook it to make noise and who comes trotting out from under the bed (hiding in between storage boxes) like nothing happened? Yep. My little brat. Looked at me and yawned-then waited for breakfast.
Why do they do this?
My other cat used to hide all the time but this is the first time Babee has done it.

Maybe she was having a wonderful dream and wasn't ready to get up?

They can be little devils at times can't they
Indie and Ember often hide in unison so we find one and lose the other
I thinks it their fav game
Well at least Babee was unphased by your panic attack
Glad you found the cutie

This has happened to me many a time, they just love strange spots, I hunted
for my youngest cat Molly for ages and she was snoozing behind the washing machine.
