Hi,

I'm new to having bengals and would like to get some ideas on what I can feed my boys. If you're feeding raw, can you please list the ingredients.

thanks

My girl Penny eats pretty much the same as she ate at her breeder's: Royal Canin Dry and Sheba Chicken & Duck wet (her personal wet preference.)

The only difference is that I mix the RC dry with Nature's Variety Raw Instinct. I also feed her NV raw rabbit, 1/4 patty, as an occasional "extra," as she decided after I adopted her that she didn't want to have raw every day, just once in a while.

If I vary from the above mentioned, we have loose stool issues, as Bengals have very sensitive tummies.

Looking forward to hearing what people have to say on this topic. In fact, I was about to ask the same question! I have two bengals, about 1.5 years old (I've had them since December) and have been trying to find the best food for them. I also have an older DSH so I have to make sure I feed something they can all eat. Anyway, I switched to Pinnacle dry a couple months ago and I supplement with a high quality wet food at dinner time. However, the bengals continue to have soft stools! I can't do raw - it just doesn't work for me logistically right now. When we got the babies, they were on Iams hairball formula (which is what the pure breed rescue person was feeding all her cats, claiming it worked well with their sensitive tummies - however, it's not a quality I want to feed them!)

Heidi - do all of your gang eat the same food? Royal Canin would be cheaper than what I'm giving them now, but it's also lower protein so they might eat more. I'll have to look into that. They didn't like the Raw Instinct I tried - totally turned their noses up at it and ate around it when I mixed it with their old food to transition them!

Are you asking me that question? I'm Betsy, and yes, all three eat the same dry mix of RC & NV Raw Instinct. They do not all eat the same wet foods, though. The Bengal is the expensive one, LOL.

Have you tried a probiotic supplement for the soft stool problem?

Oh yeah, before trying the probiotic supplement I tried just about every food there is. I don't think the foods that contain probiotics contain enough for Coco's needs.

As an update, after giving her the probiotic supplement for about 4 months (I'll have to check the actual start date) she may no longer need it. 4 weeks ago I starting giving her just 1/8 t once a day rather than the 1/8 t twice a day that I had been giving her. Her stool was OK after 3 weeks so for the last 1 week I haven't given it to her at all. Her stool is still OK. Time will tell...

I think I misunderstood your question in my previous response.

Since shortly after starting her on the probiotic supplement I have been able to feed her anything, including Wellness, without her having a loose stool.
