Lambeau came into my life as a sickly alley cat 4 years ago. He was my first cat and soon he held strongly every one of my heart strings. I've been his puppet and guardian for the past 4 years. He's moved cross country with me twice and became master of everywhere we landed.
He crossed over the bridge early this morning when I woke to his screaming cries. The vet indicated his prognosis was not good as he was diagnosed with saddle thrombus directly attributed to his heart murmur and cardiomyopathy. The decision to let him go across the bridge was incredibly painful but one that I know was best for him and me.
A friend, after hearing of my loss, shared this Mark Twain quote with me and I found it to be very appropriate and wanted to share it here as well.
"Of all God's creatures, there is only one that cannot be made slave of the leash. That one is the cat. If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve the man, but it would deteriorate the cat."
I just wish Lambeau could have crossed over Rainbow's Bridge without any pain, and it saddens me greatly to know some of his last moments were in dire pain.
He was an indoor only cat that didn't much like the texture of the grass on his precious paws, I hope he can find a nice hard surface on the other side... filled with stairs for him to chase up and back down again.
R.I.P. my sweet pumpkin baby Lambeau...
