Lambeau came into my life as a sickly alley cat 4 years ago. He was my first cat and soon he held strongly every one of my heart strings. I've been his puppet and guardian for the past 4 years. He's moved cross country with me twice and became master of everywhere we landed.

He crossed over the bridge early this morning when I woke to his screaming cries. The vet indicated his prognosis was not good as he was diagnosed with saddle thrombus directly attributed to his heart murmur and cardiomyopathy. The decision to let him go across the bridge was incredibly painful but one that I know was best for him and me.

A friend, after hearing of my loss, shared this Mark Twain quote with me and I found it to be very appropriate and wanted to share it here as well.

"Of all God's creatures, there is only one that cannot be made slave of the leash. That one is the cat. If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve the man, but it would deteriorate the cat."

I just wish Lambeau could have crossed over Rainbow's Bridge without any pain, and it saddens me greatly to know some of his last moments were in dire pain.

He was an indoor only cat that didn't much like the texture of the grass on his precious paws, I hope he can find a nice hard surface on the other side... filled with stairs for him to chase up and back down again.

R.I.P. my sweet pumpkin baby Lambeau...

(Amy - his mom)

Rest in peace, Lambeau. May you have the comfy sofa in the sunspot.

Thank you all so much for your kind words, I truly appreciate them.

And I particularly enjoyed the 'sofa in the sunspot' comment from katachtig - I keep reading about the Rainbow Bridge and the frolicking in the grass and running over the hills. I kept thinking my poor indoor baby is going to want a sofa and a window, he'd be lost outside. Who knew there'd be a sofa for him

What a nice quote. Thanks for sharing it and my deepest condolences on the loss of Lambeau. Jake was an indoor only cat as well. Maybe he and Lambeau are now curled up on the sofa together!

Amy, I'm so very sorry for your loss. Lambeau sounds like such a wonderful friend to you. I know that he loves you just as much and will be waiting for you across the bridge.

Rest in peace, sweet boy.
