Excellent book!

Due the the controversial nature, of the subject, I'm putting this here, instead of Paws & Reflect.

Just finished A Rush to Injustice, by Nader Baydoun and R. Stephanie Good. This is a balanced account of the "rape" case against the Duke University lacrosse players. ALL of the evidence is presented, as well as the lengths, that a rogue prosecutor went to, to pander to the black vote and secure his election. this was a bigger travesty of justice, than the OJ trial.

The prosecutor isn't the only bad guy here - the university administration and faculty also rushed to try and convict these young men, in the media. This is all detailed, in the book.

I am so glad, that Nifong has been disbarred and while not an advocate of litigation, I hope that these young men get a whopping settlement, for malicious prosecution.

That book would be really interesting to read - I didn't realise that the administration and faculty would be against their own players. How shocking is that? Did they have any support at all, besides their own attorneys?

My DH played Lacrosse in college. When this story broke, he said that there was no way that the charges against them could be true. His reasoning? In all of his 5 years in college playing Lacrosse, there was never a party where women actually showed up, and if there was one there, it was somebody's relative or they were paid to be there. Lacrosse players will sit around a keg of beer and get so drunk that any woman in their right mind doesn't want any part of them. After we were married and he played club Lacrosse, I went to one party and never had an interest in watching a bunch of men standing around a keg of beer again.

I know that this is an odd way of looking at it, but I knew that the case was contrived against them. It's disappointing that the school also supported the illegal actions of the prosecuting attorney.

The school punished the ENTIRE team and forced out the coach. Because the players were white and the accuser was black, they allowed political correctness to overrule "innocent until proven guilty".

first IMO they should be sueing the school for losing there season, getting kicked out, the couch should also be taking the school to court. i would also love to them go after the media.

But it was not PC that led to innocent until proven guilty, it was the media.
I do admit there is a issue in this country of anytime White person does something or disagree or dislikes a black person people run around and scream racism..

they have brain washed the young very well.

The coach has already settled with the school, and so did the three accused.

Nifong had DNA evidence that EXCLUDED all of the lacrosse players BEFORE he took the case to the grand jury. He actively conspired with the doctor at the lab, that did the testing, to suppress the exculpatory evidence. He refused to view alibi evidence, presented by the defense attorneys.

One of the young men wasn"t even PRESENT during the time of the alleged incident. He had receipts, an ATM surveillance photo, eyewitnesses, cell phone records and his dorm swipe card, proving his whereabouts and Nifong wouldn't even meet with the defense attorneys.

This incident was horribly handled. The repercussions of it will affect any woman who reports a rape from now on.

Though I wonder: if this had been the football team which pulls in mega-bucks, would the team have been totally slammed in the same way?

According to yesterday's paper, the president of the university has FINALLY apologized, for not supporting the students.

Interestingly enough, while this case was ongoing, a WHITE woman was raped by a black man, at a predominatly black basketball frat house. Rather than cancelling the baskeball season, the university just moved the team's quarters on campus. There were no protests or rallies, calling for the team's heads on platters. The rapist was caught, tried and convicted, with no fanfare.
