Hi everyone-

I just have to tell anyone who will listen about my wonderful experiences with a raw diet. I adopted a kitten, Simon, when he was 12 weeks old. He came to me with Ringworm, an URI and he had severe diahrrea. His ringworm lasted 4 months and throughout that whole time, he was having terrible diahrrea. The vet wan't sure what was wrong with him, we thought IBS, maybe, so the vet perscribed a RX food to see if that would help. Well, it did help a little but it had a lot of bad stuff in it, so I was looking for another good dry that wouldn't upset his tummy. I finally decided on Cal natural but he was still not getting any better. Finally, I was fed up and decided to try raw. I had been thinking about it for a while but I was scared. Well, after his first 24 hours of eating raw, he was free of his diahrrea!!

All our 4 cats have been on it for almost a month now and the results have been amaizing!!! Simon is not having any diahrrea anymore and there is NO litterbox odor . With 4 cats, i couldn't belive it, but it is true! This was truly the best decision I made for them, they really do love mealtimes now. Anyway, I just had to share
I really belive everyone is much happier with their new food, not to mention me! I love it too! It isn't for everyone, but for those of you who feed raw, I'm sure you will agree with me that it makes a world of difference!!

Only been raw-feeding a week, but will add, THEY LOVE IT!

Well ... all but Ulysses. And we can make an exception for HIM!

But my friends ... they are TIRED of hearing me go on about it!

I just started one of my cats on Raw- he loves it & his allergic reactions died way down. I was nervous too, but glad I tried. Will get my other cat on it too soon.

starting incorporating raw into dinner time, they still get kibble in the morning (they want to eat early and I'm sleepy!) and canned for lunch. Have been slipping raw into their dinner canned meal. The kittens don't mind, Bea is turning her nose up at it. Gonna try mostly raw tonight, after a lunch of sardine cutlets this afternoon they are swooning with love for me.
I think I might be able to persuade them. I'd like to eventually switch over entirely to raw...

any comments or suggestions? I'm not making my own raw yet but would like to eventually. I am feeding them the Natures Variety frozen raw medallions right now.

Oy, I was the same when when I switched my girls over onto RAW (excited)! My Molly was having bowel issues as well, and after a year of trying brand after brand of food, I decided to take the plunge and try RAW. And within a week, after the detox phase, Molly's "issues" cleared right up! No more farting, splattering the walls when having nasty diarrhea, horrible lingering smells that last for hours, etc. Molly can now take a poop and there's hardly any smell (and if there is, it'll actually clear up in less than 5 minutes! It's amazing! lol). Plus the poops are now firm, rather than gushy pudding.

When I switched Molly onto RAW, I switched Willow at the same time. I tried to do Buffy too, but she had no clue what to do with raw meat, so we compromised and she ate canned food (Wellness, I believe it was). But after a while, I started sneaking bits and pieces of raw meat in her food, gradually increasing it until I once day took away the canned and just gave her raw meat. She ate it without a problem! Actually, I chose to stop feeding the canned the minute Buffy hopped up next to the containers of raw meat and shoved her head in Molly's meal and started helping herself.

And I totally understand what you mean when they actually look forward to their meals. Molly sits and screams encouragement at me while I prepare the foods, Buffy hops up onto her designated eating area (the top of the fridge) and watches me work, and while Willow doesn't really do anything, she sits up and watches me from across the room and then chirps in excitement when I start walking towards her with her food. And I don't know if this is related, but now, when Buffy sneaks outside, all I have to do is call her and she'll come running back (I guess she's hopeful that I'm going to be giving her some food, lol). This is the kitty that would race at top speed immediately after sneaking out the door, and she wouldn't stop until she was sure we weren't chasing her. So for her to willingly come racing back to you is just, well, it's incredible, lol

I'm so glad you all are having sucesses with a raw diet. It funny becasue within just a few days, I have started giving th crew a "snack" before bed, because normally they have been waking me up at 3:30 am. I am still trying to figure out the right amount because now at normal mealtimes, they are leaving some left over! They ar so funny that way! Before, they acted as if they hadn't eaten in weeks and then when I give in and give them a snack, they leave some on their plates
Oh well, I would rather have them leaving some than waking me up at 3:30 every morning. Oh, good news also. Not only do they all love the chicken variety, they will eat lamb too!! I was wondering if they would, but they do!! I am SO happy I made the switch, it was the best thing ever!!
Someone also asked for advice and the only advice I have is to not get discouraged if they don't take to it right away. The first time I put it down in front of everyone, they looked at me like " what the heck, lady, are you trying to kill me???", but over time, they all decided it was the best food they ever had

the kittens are eating more and more of it with each meal and I have no doubt that they'll take to it in no time, I just want to transition them slowly, but Bea...

she won't really touch it. I sneak small teensy amounts into her wet food and I swear she can smell it. she only ate a tiny bit of it tonight , but last night she snubbed it completely so I guess I'll just have to be patient...
